where can I find information on depression, medicines and how to deal with it when it's someone you love?

My girlfriend has been diagnosed with depression and athsma on top of it, the athsma part isn't so rough (on me) but it's gotten hard to deal with the depression (of course I know it's hard for her), how can I find information on this condition, medications and how to deal with it when it's someone you love? I am a very patient person but it really has become harder as we go, I love her very much and don't want to give up on her, I think she's had enough of that in her life……..HELP?????
