I need information and anyone experience on depression medications!?

6

Has anyone had a any luck with depression like medications (i.e. zoloft, effexor, etc.)? What is the best? What are the side effects? I am often depressed, negative and critical. I have a generally negative aspect on everything. I tried Effexor, it was great, but I think I may need something stronger. Any suggestions?

If effexor has been working well for you, maybe you should just increase the dosage, rather than switch to a different medication? Perhaps ask the doc to explore that possibility.

Err well.. I'm currently on zoloft (sertraline), been on it for about 6 months. Personally, I've had dry mouth and sexual dysfunction, yay! But it's been the most effective in terms of the depression which is the main thing.. much better than the other two meds I've been on.

I was on citalopram (is the brand name celexa?) for a month or so, but it gave me muscle spasms and very srange tics (which people noticed, arg!) also made me hyper and generally embarassing.

Before THAT, it was fluoxetine (prozac)… this is the only anti-depressant legally available to under 18's in the UK, so at the time it was fluoxetine or nothing. They also paired that with risperidone (risperdal?) which was supposed to stabalize the suicidal feelings. Can't say it did much for me, but thank god other options are now available.

Each med interacts uniquely with your own body-chemistry, so perhaps you'll have better luck than I did if you happen to take the above meds in the future… so take my opinions with a pinch of salt.. one man's meat is another man's poison and all that! Good luck, + godspeed your recovery
