Christians and Anxiety attacks

Many years ago, Religion was the center of everything which included politics. Those who disobeyed the pope would be accused of heresy and then executed.

True believers of one’s religion can also be a breeding ground for anxiety. This is because the only way to keep the faith will be by following all the teachings even if some of it are no longer practical to begin with.

For instance, the old testament of the bible tells the believer if the right hand does something bad, this should be cut off or else the person will go to hell. There are those who literally believe that even if later on, there is talk about repentance and forgiveness of the sins that were committed.

Some even claim that this is the very reason that caused division in the church. In the years after Constantinople combined Christianity and paganism into one, various orders have been established such as the Baptists and the Mormons to name a few which have a different way of loving God in the hopes of seeing heaven.

But studies have shown that this creates anxiety should the person fail to live up to the expectations of the religion. It is like the past coming back to haunt the individual because something better could have been done. Those who are able to stick to the belief will strive harder while those that don’t will switch to another church.

So can Christians avoid anxiety while sticking to one’s belief? The answer to this question is yes. The individual will have to think first what is written in the scripture and try to put this in better context.

The same thing goes for what the preacher says during the sermon. What the pastors is saying is simply an interpretation of what was taught to that individual. Does this mean it is correct? The answer is no so the person has to think about those words carefully before doing anything.

Things such as the commandments are just like the laws that govern the nation but just like the government, there must be a separation between the church and the state. Some of the things that are written in the scriptures are no longer applicable and should the person violate the law, one will likely be charged and arrested.

Surely, the person knows the difference between right or wrong in society. The choice of what will happen next is entirely up to the person especially when God gave the people free will.

This allows Christians to choose what to believe as well as those that should be ignored. This is something each individual should think about to avoid being caught up with the anxieties brought upon by one’s beliefs.

A great way to fight anxiety even while at Church is to learn how to breathe. Getting enough oxygen into the brain can keep the individual into perspective of what is real in society.

People do not live inside the four corners of the Church because there is a bigger world out there once the individual steps out of those doors.

The decisions that will be made should be on the ideals and principles of the individual and not something that came from a book or dictated by someone acting as the shepherd of the flock.
